Obligatory First Post
I have no shortage of projects. I do have a shortage of time.
Since I’ve just committed to writing a book on the Joomla CMS for Packt Publishing, and because it just wouldn’t do to have no personal website for my prospective readers to link to, I was faced with a conundrum. I could:
- Use my book to promote some of my other endeavors, which are in various states of completion, and as such, may appear less professional than I’d prefer, or
- Start a New weblog, on a vanity domain.
So, even though I’ve resisted for ten years the impulse to register a vanity domain, I’ve now been compelled to do precisely that.
On this particular component of my overall online presence, the reader may expect to read:
- My thoughts and writings on various professional matters
- Snippets of my professional writing
- An overall slice of the life of me.
Pretty unexciting, really, but we’ll see what develops.
To any of my readers: Welcome! Glad you bought the book, and I hope you found it useful!
A brief Q&A Session:
Q: Why didn’t you use Joomla for your personal blog?
A: Joomla is simply too powerful, IMHO, for a use so paltry as my vanity-domain blog is deemed to be by me.
Q: Why didn’t you use MovableType?
A: I use MT for other projects, and absolutely love it. I just wanted to try something new with this one, and since this blog is very narrow in purpose and intent, I figured I’d give WordPress a try. I’ve heard good things about WP from a friend of mine.
Q: Why are you still using the default WordPress template? You suck.
A: Because I’m very, very busy at the moment. And, yes, I do. Perhaps one day that will change. My prime ambition is to not suck when I grow up.
Q: Your book sucked.
A: Firstly, that wasn’t a question. Secondly, the book isn’t even written yet….it barely has a provisional title! Give a guy a chance! Geez.
Q: Your book was (awesome, good, nice, excellent, etc.)
A: See above answer. Book’s not written yet.
