It’s a slippery slope…

When I heard that "Girls Gone Wild" mogul Joe Francis was being busted for tax evasion, my response was probably much the same as yours was. I couldn't give a crap less.

But, watching some late-night TV, I noticed that the GGW ads are still running. With Francis imprisoned and his tax evasion case looming, who do you really think will get the proceeds from a GGW video you might buy today?

The United States Government is, effectively, now in the soft-core pr0n industry.

Food for thought.

Palm-to-head moment, #71744

"I did not lose my book. I DID NOT lose my book".

That was me, as I realized that my attempt to install Gentoo Linux on a new partition had resulted in the NTFS partition on the same drive being deleted.

Thank God for Data Recovery software. I managed to pull my book back from the abyss. Lost a lot of other, less important, but still annoying-to-replace stuff, though.

This is what I get for being lax about keeping my personal files backed up. A near-disaster. In other news, I'm nearly done with my draft revisions. :)

What’s to become of Vonage?

I'm willing to bet $1 that Verizon announces plans to acquire Vonage soon, using their victory in court as leverage to secure favorable terms.

Why else would they wait until Vonage had acquired millions of customers to launch their patent-troll lawsuit? And why else would they abstain from pursuing similar litigation against others in the VOIP field?

One more reason not to count Yahoo out

The Big Y! is broadening their relationship with local newspapers: [link]

This, in my opinion, makes them more formidable, long-term, than Google. They get the nimble reach of a legion of locally-oriented publications against whom to embrace, extend, and ultimately supplant.

Think about it.
